The heat and humidity in Florida can be a little overbearing at times. While living in this kind of climate year round certainly has its benefits, the sweltering heat in the summer can be too much sometimes. As the month of October carries on, Florida begins to get a taste of fall weather and the temperature often drops into the comfortable and warm 70 degree area.

This time in the fall is one of the best for getting out on the water with your boat or yacht. One great trip that can start off at the Palm Beaches is a quick trip up the Atlantic coastline up to Jax Beach, taking in some of the great areas along the east coast.

The trip up the Atlantic coast can be great. Whether taking in the lighthouses at Ponce Inlet or making a stop at the beaches in Daytona, the trip can be highly enjoyable. A stop in St. Augustine would make for an unbelievable view of some historic and irreplaceable architecture.  Also, at the midpoint between Jacksonville and Miami, some of the sights of the Kennedy Space Center are viewable from the nearby water.

If you’re into sport fishing, some stops along the Atlantic coast can be great this time of year. There are some great areas for snapper, grouper and marlin along the east coast, especially in the fall months. The fall is a great time for both trolling and bottom fishing, which can each be productive this season.

At the end of a trip up the Atlantic coast, there are some great events taking place in Jacksonville throughout late October and November, making it a prime destination if you’re looking to get out of South Florida for a quick trip. The area’s events in October will be highlighted by the Florida-Georgia game on Halloween weekend. This should fill the streets of Jacksonville with people of all kinds looking to have a good time. The beach area is home to some unbelievable water and view of the Jacksonville apartments and condos which line the coast. The city has plenty of marinas as an option for those interested in a trip by boat into the city.

There are some great options for boats to take a trip like this. Whether it is a sailing cruiser such as the Jeanneu or a power catamaran such as the Trawler, either would be a great option for a trip up the coastline. When you’re going on an overnight or extended trip, you will want to do so in a watercraft that has style, space and great performance.
